Threads Mega Mic

Concept Development
Fabrication

Threads wanted to make a mega entrance during the NBA Cup, so we built the Mega Mic: a giant, fully functional microphone. The result: viral moments that boosted Threads’ visibility and energy across the sports world.

Britteny Elena holds a giant working microphone labeled “#NBAThreads” while interviewing NBA player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is dressed in a black hoodie and beanie, holding a water bottle. Britteny is smiling and wearing a teal vest with a small white dog peeking out from a pink and gray front-facing pet carrier. The interview takes place in a backstage or media area with a neutral wall and catering table in the background.

Approach

From the success seen with host Britteny Elena and the Mega Mic at the NBA Cup, we were able to provide Threads with a unique on-site prop that athletes and talent were excited to hold and seek out on red carpets. Since NBA Cup, the mega mic has hit the court, red carpet, and media days at a variety of events including the NBA All-Star, NFL Super Bowl, and even the Oscars, playing a key role in creative whether it be longform interviews or eye-catching shortform content.

This image shows Lamar Jackson in a Baltimore Ravens uniform, wearing number 8, posing energetically in a room completely covered with Ravens memorabilia. He’s holding a football in one hand and extending his other hand forward as if to stiff-arm an invisible defender. The walls and ceiling are plastered with posters, photos, team logos, and decorations in purple, black, and gold. There are Ravens hats, jerseys, clippings, and even a clock and stereo on a cluttered desk in the corner, making the space feel like the ultimate fan cave. The overall vibe is lively, passionate, and celebratory—capturing both the player’s excitement and the intensity of Ravens fandom.
